The number of people experiencing homelessness in the United States has increased for the second consecutive year.  On a single night last year, more than half a million Americans lackedpermanent shelter.

In El Paso Texas, a City with a population of 678,266, over 892 (includes 177 unsheltered) people are homeless. Millions of families are in pain right now from COVID-19 as well as brutal weather conditions and unemployment. Many are facing heartbreaking challenges that range from homeless, hunger and a lack of access to drinking water or even the ability to take a bath.

My 8 year old son has taken a special interest in the homelessepidemic, as he sees so many homeless along the streets in our neighborhood. There is one man in particular that has really captured his heart. His name is Mr. John. Bookie saw Mr. John and asked me if we could feed him. We have been feeding Mr. John ever since. ( Mr. John Anthony Darick passed January 27, 2022 ) While feeding Mr. John we realized that there is a small army of people desiring a hot meal and a second chance. That’s when we decided to start making dinners every Sunday and deliver it to the homeless around the city of El PasoTexas. Our moto is #HomelessLivesMatter #ThisIsNotYourLastSupper 

Bookie and Mommy’s Helping Hands is on a mission to feed the homeless men and women in EL Paso TX and we have come to realize the demand is larger than our supply. We simply cannotfix the problem alone but we are committed to being an example to those who want to start. It will require ALL of us. It will require a commitment and a movement. We are ready to lead.

Please help us make a difference. We have been serving the community since COVID-19 began but the demand is great. We have delivered meals, water, blankets, tents, socks, jeans, jackets and personal hygiene packages all on our own but more help is needed. We need to purchase a Van to hold all our supplies and we need your help. We have set up a Go Fund Me account to raise money for a cargo van that can hold all our supplies so that we can stretch our helping hand all across El Paso TX.
