Cancer Sucks
Sigh. As many of you know, my brother recently found out his tumor is back. Three years ago he went through brain surgery in Buffalo, New York, then extensive radiation and chemotherapy in Idaho with clean MRI scans every couple months for the past 2 years. Finally, he was in remission long enough to space his scans to 6m. He was working full time again and life was good. Then at month 5, he had a significant seizure while out hiking and life as they knew it came to a halt. Andy is back in treatment again with infusions every 2 weeks through a medi-port hoping to quell the growth of the tumor. Daily he takes anti-seizure medications. We are all hoping and praying this treatment works. My brother is only 45 years old with a lot more life to live. His youngest son, Max is the same age as Levi (16). Laurelyn (19) started her first year of college this fall, and my hardworking nephew, Cody, is turning 22 at the end of this month.
His family is still paying medical bills from 3 years ago. Now, my brother is unable to drive and unable to work, and his wife is putting her nose to the grindstone. She works SO hard. Bobbette owns her own cleaning business and is amazingly resourceful, but I can only imagine dealing with the stress of everything happening, working to support the family, and then shouldering the weight of medical debt. They have faithfully paid down their bills for the last 3 years and this is only a fraction of what they used to owe. Dear God. I can only imagine.
Let’s be real. Cancer sucks. Medical debt sucks. Here’s their most recent medical bill: $26,795. I would love to ease this burden for their family. Bobbette has worked hard to negotiate their debt and if they have enough of a lump sum they may be able to forgive a portion of the bill. Please consider donating. Every little bit helps.
