Brianna’s Bequest: 5 Children Lose Single Mother

BRIANNA'S BEQUEST - Fund for 5 young siblings after loss of single mom

Our staggering grief at losing a cherished member of our family on April 21, 2023, is enhanced by the devastation of realizing that her 5 young children have now lost their greatest champion, advocate and single mother, Brianna Lockwood. Their hearts are not only heaving with sadness but their futures are rife with uncertainty.

It is because of the thoughtful, gentle words that have been spoken to us:
"How can I help?", that my parents have created a fund to help ease some of the inevitable future burdens that the children will face. As Brianna's greatest focus was nurturing her 5 little ones (ages 3 - 15), this fund is the premier way that Brianna's legacy can live on. Brianna had been in an extended abusive relationship where, ultimately, it was her absolute dedication to her children that gave her resilience and strength.
We ask for any contribution to the fund.
Your gift is cherished and our gratitude is profound.

Born in Calgary ('87) and raised in Priddis with her two older sisters, Brianna had a natural love for family, friends, animals, and the great outdoors. She attended Red Deer Lake School from K-9 and then High School at the Foothills Comp in Okotoks. She spent time at Camosun College, U of A and then finished with carpentry at SAIT. Brianna was also welcomed and baptized into the Church of LDS recently.

Brianna was an undeniable force of positivity, laughter and learning. It always amazed me how one young person could have such eclectic interests and talents as my baby sister did. Brianna was an avid reader (especially of mysteries). She was passionate about her 4-H sheep flock (since 8 yrs old!); gardening; woodworking (including elaborate fort construction both as a child as well as with her children); knitting; theatre and musicals; everything Disney (easily quoting any movie, with impersonations); every craft project she could get her hands on (or devise herself); dancing and listening to the music of every genre!!! Brianna also had a fondness for debate and her developed talents here gave her the easy win in disputes with not only her children but also with peers and (much to the annoyance of) her older sisters.

Brianna's radiance partnered with her resolute convictions. That girl could unequivocally pump you up, protect you, or put you in your place depending on what the situation required (according to her - hahaha!)

The thing that could light Brianna up the most was the undeniable love she had for her four sons and one daughter.
She worked tirelessly to both be and become the best mom she could be.

It is with so much sadness that we realize we no longer have Brianna's warm cuddles.

On behalf of our parents, Garth & Lis; my remaining sister, Caitlyn; Brianna's children and myself (Gillian):
Thank you for your time and consideration and for sharing in our grief.
