Hello. My name is Shavia’. I reside in California. I am from Louisville, Kentucky. I am a 26-year-old mother. My son, Zechariah, is 5 years old. In 2019, I gave birth to a beautiful boy while I was incarcerated. It was the worst feeling ever to have a child in jail. Back in 2020, I was released from prison. Due to my circumstances, I gave power of attorney to my mother for her to just take care of him for just a little while (when he was born). That was not the case for her, she wanted control & money.

I got off parole early in 2022. Where I went to Kentucky to come and see my child, to celebrate me getting off early. A new beginning I thought… My mother began to file paperwork behind my back, wanting full custody of my child. No judgements were made around that time. Fast forward to 2023, I wasn’t informed about a birthday party. When I called to tell him happy birthday, I was told about the party already happened prior to my call. I was in shock! He was 4 years old then.

Now we are in the year of 2024.

I booked a birthday party for my son in Louisville, Kentucky— I drove out there. He was dropped off to me, and I left Louisville back to California. My son wasn’t confused, he wasn’t in danger, he was just happy to finally be with his mother. Finally getting to experience how a mother is supposed to love you. We have done everything together since I’ve had him. I’ve taken him to the dentist to get cavities filled, took him to his primary care doctor to get his inhaler, got a recommendation for him to see an eye doctor, brushed his teeth twice a day, had a home for him, his own room, his own bed, his own clothes and shoes. I prepared for this. Until I enroll him into school, about 3 days ago — August 13th. I got a call stating my mother has filed an emergency order to have my son removed from school! They TOOK HIM! I did not get to say goodbye to my son, nor did they let me see him! Throughout the years of my mother taking care of him, I’ve always been in his life. I wrote letters to him every month of me being incarcerated. I’ve been calling attorneys, and all of them are saying how difficult the case is. I have not lost any rights or signed over any rights. I just want to be the best mom for my child. Lawyers in Louisville, Kentucky are all telling me the price ranges and I honestly need help. I need help to fight this, gain sole custody, and I need someone wanting to fight this case & Listen to me.

Any donations can help us. I’ve been fighting for so long. I am just a mother wanting to be in my son’s life. As he wants to be in mine.
