Hello Friends, Family, and fellow Chihuahua lovers. My name is Angela Booth and I am raising money to pay for Spinal surgery on my beloved Chihuahua, Brinkley. Brinkley is a 7 year old Chihuahua that I have had from 8 weeks old. He is what I live for, he is all I have, he is my son.
On Monday 11/2/15, I came home from work to find him walking funny and having trouble with back legs. He almost acted like he was drugged. I thought, well maybe he ate something, maybe he jumped off the couch wrong, etc. and figured I would see how he was in the morning. I woke up Tuesday morning to find him unable to stand. I rushed him to the Animal ER and they said they thought he had a herniated disk in his back. I was then sent to my regular Vet who said the same but really wanted me to see an animal Neurologist. I agreed and they scheduled an appointment the same day at North Florida Neurology in Orange Park, FL.
After being examined by Dr. John Meeks, Brinkley was given a rating of 3 on a scale of 1-5, 5 being completely paralyzed. He said I could either do a workup and surgery, or take him home, but if I took him home there was a good change he would slip down to a 5 and then there would be nothing they could do for him. For me, there was no decision to be made. This is my precious baby and I couldn’t take a chance of losing him.
The Doctor performed a myelography and surgery that night and said that Brinkley indeed had herniated disks T11, T12 & T13. He also said the surgery went well and would call me in the morning with an update. This morning I received an update that Brinkley is able to stand up momentarily and was able to go pee on his own. He will be in the hospital until Friday or early next week. The total for this is going to be in the range of $4800-$5500. I paid already paid $2500 as a down payment and will have to pay the balance when I pick him up. Any funds I will receive will go towards paying off the credit card I put this operation on.
I have never asked for a dime for anyone and really wasn’t sure about putting this out there but I have had a lot of other things happen this year and this was just the icing on the cake and anything that you could do to help would be much appreciated. I will keep this page updated with Brinkley’s progress.
Thank you all and God Bless.
Love,
Angela & Brinkley
This was Brinkley on the way to the Neurologist yesterday.

This was the tech taking Brinkley back for surgery.

Here's a copy of the evauluation for treatment.

Here are 2 photos of Brinkley this morning that the vet emailed to me. He is sitting up up, alert and scared, looking for his mommy.
