Brooklyn Immigrant Community Support

The Coronavirus has affected us all in numerous ways and caused undue hardships to many. One of the most vulnerable communities hardest hit has been our immigrant community.

Many of our immigrant friends and neighbors are suffering greatly, either on the front lines of this pandemic as essential workers who are keeping the city running, or left recently unemployed without the ability to work and with no where to turn for help because they are ineligible for city, state or federal assistance leaving them unable to apply for unemployment benefits,  emergency rental assistance or food stamps.  Fears of our xenophobic war against immigrants has also left many afraid of seeking  out medical assistance or homeless shelters.  While we are all afraid and hurting at this time, most of us have solace in knowing our government is working to provide some relief for us. Many of us will be receiving a stimulus check very soon,  but as is always the case, the most vulnerable and neediest among us will receive nothing. Only people power and community are able to help lift up and carry some of the burdens left on our neighbors doorsteps.

All of the money we raise goes to direct relief to aid our immigrant communities with their immediate basic needs. We have dozens of phone calls coming in everyday from fearful families who have run out of food, diapers, personal hygiene products, and are at risk of eviction.  It is with great sorrow that we are also now receiving calls from families who have lost loved ones to COVID and are distressed that they do not have the money needed for burial. We have a team working with these individuals to direct them to resources and have been able to provide groceries and hot meals to hundreds of families in South Brooklyn.  With your help we would like to continue to do this work. Please dig as deep as you can and give generously. I know we are being asked for so much lately, I ask that you open your heart to give to those who are receiving the least, and being overlooked the most.  If you are financially secure at this time, I beg you to consider donating your stimulus check to these efforts. Every dollar you give has an immediate effect on some of your most vulnerable neighbors.

We thank you all so much and send you prayers for love and health.
