Burma: DSA Aids CTUM Unions Against Military Coup

NO TIME LEFT!! AFTER MOSTLY THREE YEARS FROM THE BLOODY MILITARY COUP, WE NEED TO HELP THE BURMESE SPRING REVOLUTION TO WIN.

From the coup d'état of February 1, 2021 to today, a campaign of terror has been underway and the consequent continuous dizzying increase in the violation of human rights, labor and environmental rights by the Burmese terrorist military junta. War crimes and crimes against humanity are reported by the UN.

From April 2022 to July 2023, the UN reports 1,427 aerial bombings, (in August 2023, warplanes conducted more than 100 bombings).

1,355 villages; over 75,000 buildings; 200 religious’ buildings, including food storage facilities, seed banks and livestock have been destroyed, leading to the ongoing displacement crisis, and dramatically increasing humanitarian and protection needs, including for those at particular risk such as women, children, elderly people and people with disabilities. This follows the "burn all, kill all" operation.

Financial support is needed to help the Confederation of Trade Unions of Myanmar: CTUM, whose leadership has been hiding in the Burmese jungle since 2021, to organize communications between the democratic opposition members, to support fired or to provide legal support to detained workers and those who cannot pay for their hostels or food due to strikes and protest participation. Funds are desperately needed to allow protestors to stay in contact through mobile and satellite phones. Many leaders and workers have not work, since the beginning of the military coup and are counting on our support.

ITALIA-BIRMANIA.INSIEME, founded in 2013, works with Myanmar trade unions and democratic political forces to promote peace, interethnic dialogue, programs on rule of law, quality employment, decent work, and responsible investments. After the bloody military coup, ITALIA-BIRMANIA.INSIEME, in agreement with the Burmese trade union confederation CTUM, whose President is among its founding members, is developing initiatives to support the CDM, the CRPH and the trade unions, to overcome the military dictatorship, to change the military constitution and build a democratic, federal Union.
