Fund the fight against anti-vaxx lies

Over the past year, millions of people have been exposed to misinformation about Covid and vaccines. Many have been persuaded to ignore guidance and reject the Covid vaccine, costing lives.


With vaccines now being rolled out across the world, the Anti-Vaxx Industry threatens their success. We must stop liars who sell false cures to desperate people.

And our work is having an impact. Erin Elizabeth wrote to her followers asking them for financial support because of the impact that the removal of her platform from Facebook had on her following. 

Since the outbreak of the pandemic, the Center for Countering Digital Hate has been monitoring, exposing, defunding, and deplatforming individuals and organisations who spread anti-vaccine lies. We’ve shined a light on the failure of social media companies to take action against dangerous misinformation. Our work over the past year includes:


·         Publishing advice for social media users on how to counter misinformation  online, backed by the UK Government  and the Mayor of London;


·         Gaining access to a secret conference  where anti-vaxxers discussed how to build their franchise by undermining the Covid vaccine;


·         Finding false Covid cures sold on YouTube , Instagram , and Facebook;


·         Persuading companies to remove adverts , and thus funding, from websites publishing anti-vaccine propaganda;


·          Leading the campaign to persuade social media companies to remove David Icke from their platforms;


·         Exposing the failure of social media platforms to remove Covid & vaccine  misinformation;


·         Uncovering hundreds of thousands of dollars in relief loans from the US Government paid to anti-vaxxers;


·         Calculating the total social media following of anti-vaxxers at almost 60 million, showing they exploited the pandemic to grow their audience by 10 million last year;


And our latest report  finds that Instagram is actively promoting anti-vaxx and Covid misinformation to potentially millions of users.


We did all this with just 5 members of staff across both the USA and the UK, compared with the millions of dollars in funding and hundreds of staff working for the Anti-Vaxx Industry. Please help level the playing field by donating what you can.


·         If we raise just £500, it will pay for us to gain access to and record the next major conference held by anti-vaxxers;


·         If 500 people give £10, we can hire a researcher for a new 2 month investigation;


·         If 300 people give £20, we can redesign our website, helping us get our message to a wider audience.
