10-1 Officer Adam Wazny
Donation protected
Officer Adam Wazny is a 16 year veteran of the Chicago Police Department. Adam was born and raised in Poland. As a young adult Adam arrived in the United States of America. It was at that time Adam grew to love his new country and decided to devote his life to public service. He is a proud husband and father of a 8 year old son and 2 year old daughter.
On September 21st 2019, Adam and his team were tasked to find a violent offender whom was responsible for a separate shooting. Upon the apprehension of the offender, the offender engaged Adam in gunfire. Adam resorted to defend himself, his community and participated in a gun battle. Adam was shot 4 times during this encounter. Despite his devastating injuries he was able to apply his own tourniquet. Adam’s teammates quickly took action and rescued Adam.
The trauma surgeon was quoted saying “He came basically bleeding to death. He had already lost a significant amount of blood and was taken immediately to the operating room for surgery.” Although he survived this violent encounter, Adam has a long road to recovery. In addition to multiple surgeries to remove bullets and fragments from his body, the doctors placed metal rods in his leg to repair the bones that were shattered by bullets. He will also be undergoing physical therapy.
Officer Adam Wazny, his wife and two kids will be working on recovering from this traumatic event together. During this time they will inevitably accumulate medical and other expenses compounded by the loss of a portion of his and her wages. We are asking for good people to help with any donation they can afford. Police officers help keep us safe every day and we now have the opportunity to help an officer and his family in their time of need.
