Hello Friends, Family, Alumni!
This spring our team has had one of its best seasons yet, with many new riders joining and current riders moving up to ever higher categories. Because of this our team has been able to qualify six riders (Laura Leonard, Rosa Foth, Andrew Hemesath, Jake Wands, Jon Wells and Daniel McMahon) for USA Cycling Collegiate National Championships in Marshall and Burnsville North Carolina. This race is the chance of a lifetime for all of these students and they have been working for it both physically and academically for months. Unfortunately, as close as the team is we are not able to afford the journey. The team’s spring race; The Oredigger Classic was shut down by Colorado weather and lost us much of the funding that allows us to compete at these events. So we are asking for help: your donations will go towards paying for travel, lodging and registration fees for these riders. But more importantly it will give our riders a chance to prove that, not only are we the best trained engineers and students in the nation, but also a group of the most determined and strongest riders you will find anywhere.
The Colorado School of Mines Club Cycling Team has been representing campus at the highest level for the past 45 years. Today the club has evolved into one of the biggest and most successful club sports on campus. The club today stands at 70 members and approximately 35 competitive racers. Due to the foundation that has been laid by past members, it is without doubt the club will continue to enjoy success and be able to preserve the opportunity for future Mines students to participate.
With hard work from the club officers, racers, and coaches, Mines Club Cycling enjoyed tremendous success, the best season seen in years. In the 2014/2015 season alone, Mines Club Cycling had the conference champion for Men’s A, Men’s B, Men’s C, Women’s B, and Women’s C divisions. With this success accomplished, it wasn’t all the team had in mind. The team as a whole accomplished to finish 2nd in their division in point as well as 3rd overall in points. Nationals then witnessed a formidable team take 2nd, capping off a wonderful season.
There are several benefits to being a club sponsor. Every donation is tax deductible, and your name will be displayed on our team webpage and in any brochures handed out through out the season. We are really looking forward to the rest of our season and we hope that you can be a part of our developing program. We cannot achieve our goals without your support!
Thank you for making the 2015/2016 season rewarding for our team. Please visit our website here for more information on our team.
