Callie's Stand, and Fight for Life.

I've never known a kinder, more loving family than the Colwicks. Kevin and Callie started dating in the summer of 2007 while both lifeguarding at a waterpark in New Braunfels, TX. Their Christ centered relationship led them to the alter in May of 2011 where they made the heartfelt vows "in sickness and health," that unbeknown to them, and all to soon, would be proven true as they would later walk through the deepest waters one can fathom.

Fast forward four years to May of 2015. With beautiful travel experiences and memories shared together, they gave birth to a beautiful, healthy, baby girl named Kenzi Rae. With the sweetest spirit, just like her momma, this blonde hair, blue eyed girl, grew into a curious toddler who leaves everyone in awe of her gentle and content nature. Like many young women, Callie's greatest dream and ultimate success would look like that of raising little ones into women and men after God's own heart. It was no secret that this couple was ready to be pregnant again, but after two miscarriages, their hearts were hurt, and left clinging to The Lord for peace and strength. Callie was timid when her third pregnancy test in one year read "positive." She was slow to speak of this news, and cherished every new day that her baby continued to grow within her. The days turned into weeks, and by three months Kevin & Callie felt somewhat confident to share this great joy with everyone, acknowledging their need for The Lord's protection.

Callie shares in her blog (http://www.callie.co/blog/) the details of this journey, and how on the morning of December 16th, at 15 weeks pregnant she felt the strong need to schedule an appointment with her doctor. After being seen that day, she was told that her son, Quinn Alan, would be coming within hours, maybe days, and was advised to head to the hospital immediately, where she would be admitted to Labor and Delivery. Callie did everything she could, in desperate hope of keeping their baby boy tucked away safely inside her. On December 21st her water broke. This was the last thing keeping Quinn earth side and Callie uninfected. She and Kevin were taken on a roller coaster ride of emotions over the six days. Quinn simply would not come out on his own, and any medical intervention left Callie at a high risk for hemorrhaging. All they could do is wait and pray. Each sonogram proved the little kicks and flutters that Callie continued to feel to be true. Quinn's heart was beating strong, and Callie refused to take his life into her own hands. I'll forever respect her for that. Her surrender to the Lord has changed me, others, and will continue to impact the lives of many.

On December 27th Callie went into septic shock from an extremely severe infection that began shutting down all of her organs, which ultimately took Quinn's life while still in the womb. Callie was rushed to the ICU in critical condition, fighting for her life. Since then, Callie has undergone multiple surgeries and procedures, unable to survive without a ventilator. Outside of stepping away for an hour or two every couple days to spend time with their precious daughter Kenzi, her incredible husband Kevin has never left her side. Day and night, he is right there, and doesn't plan on leaving her anytime soon. Kevin has taken an unpaid leave of absence from work, as any loving husband would.

As you can imagine, a financial burden is the last thing we, as The Colwick's community, want laying heavily upon them in this time of desperation. We are asking for you to come alongside us, in whatever way you feel led, and give. This gift will help cover medical expenses, monthly bills, and the general cost of daily living for both Kevin and Kenzi. If unable to give in this way, please take time to stop and say a prayer for Callie. Your prayers are of most value. The Colwick's know who The Great Physician is, and so do we. He IS able. Callie needs a miracle, and again, The Lord, our God, IS able. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for taking time to read this, and allowing it to move you. To know Callie is to love Callie. She is truly radient.
