Teaching Recovery: A Year to Write
Donation protected
Help Cathy Leave the Classroom and Reclaim Her Life
After years of working in public education—pouring everything I had into my students, often at the cost of my health—I’ve made the difficult decision to step away. The stress, burnout, and hostile conditions have taken a toll, and I’m choosing to prioritize my well-being, healing, and voice.
This fundraiser isn’t for a product or business venture. It’s not payment for services. It’s a personal support fund to help me transition out of the classroom and cover essential expenses—like health insurance, basic living costs, and time to recover from a decade of emotional and physical strain. It’s time for me to write, create, and find my footing in the next steps toward whatever I should be now.
Many people have encouraged me to share my story more publicly, and I’ll continue to speak out when I can—but there is no obligation, reward, or transaction tied to any donation here (tax purposes statement - still the Econ teacher lady). This is just a space for those who want to help me take a step toward something better. Who enjoy my coffee rants, and want to help me stay sane … and safe … in a world that makes my job more dangerous by the day.
If you’ve ever been impacted by the public school system, felt like your voice was silenced, or wanted to support someone walking away from it—thank you. Your support means more than you know. You may, quite literally, be saving my life.
