Catinga Ediciones es un proyecto editorial independiente nuevo con base en República Dominicana que se propone publicar y hacer circular en formato impreso y digital trabajos escriturales de personas negras y afrodescendientes de la comunidad LGBTQI+.

Con los recursos obtenidos podremos publicar los trabajos de Johan Mijail, Ju Pueblo, Juan Valdéz, Malvin Montero, Agatha Brooks y César Peralta.

Estas primeras publicaciones experimentan la escritura en diferentes formatos desde un eje transversal que va en relación a los cuerpos y presencias negras y afros de lxs autorxs hasta temáticas urgentes por discutir en República Dominicana como lo trans, la migración, lo decolonial, el VIH y el homolesbotravestierotismo.

El nombre de todas las personas que den apoyo a estas primeras publicaciones aparecerá en los agradecimientos de los fanzines y lo recibirá en su formato digital. El proyecto cuenta con personas aliadas que mediante colaboraciones estarán trabajando en el tema de diseño gráfico, diagramación, obras de portada y difusión.

La editorial pretende seguir trabajando y produciendo con otrxs autorxs negrxs y afrodescendientes de diferentes latitudes, para ello estaremos recibiendo ideas, propuestas y colaboraciones a nuestro correo.

Entendemos que es de vital importancia que se conozcan nuestras experiencias artísticas y creativas como personas negras y afrodescendientes no heterosexuales por la invisibilización sistemática en el lenguaje racista y heteronormativo que sostiene el imaginario cultural dominicano.

Catinga Ediciones is a new independent publishing project based in the Dominican Republic that aims to publish and circulate in written and digital format scriptural works by black people and Afro-descendants from the  LGBTQI + community.

With the resources obtained we can publish works by Johan Mijail, Ju Pueblo, Juan Valdés, Malvin Montero, Agatha Brooks and César Peralta.

These first publications explore experimental writing in different formats from a transversal axis that intersects with black and Afro bodies and the presence of the authors; to urgent topics under discussion in the Dominican Republic such as trans lives, migration, decoloniality, HIV and homo-lesbo-travestite-erotism.

The names of all the people who support these first publications will appear in the fanzines’ acknowledgment sections and will receive these publications in their digital format. The project counts with allies who through their collaborations will be working on the areas of graphic design, layout, book design and distribution.

The publisher intends to continue working and producing with other black and Afro-descendant authors from different latitudes. To this end, we will be receiving ideas, proposals and collaborations in our email address.

We understand that it is vital that our artistic and creative experiences are known as black people and as non-heterosexual Afro-descendants because of the systematic invisibility in the racist and hetero-normative language that sustains the Dominican cultural imaginary.
