Cassie's Whipple surgery recovery

Donation protected
Life comes with all sorts of surprises, some of them are not the ones we want.

My name is Cassandra Wilcox. I'm a 30 year old who was diagnosed with Familial Adenomatous Polyposis (FAP) at the age of 13. To prevent cancer, I have had my entire colon removed. I go through many colonoscopies and EGDs to check to make sure there are no more polyps growing. Well, my last EGD this summer did not come back clear. My duodenum has four polyps growing and one on my common bile duct. My GI doctor told me I need a Whipple. It will get me back to a normal life. My polyps are precancerous (Stage 0) but eventually could turn into cancer.

A Whipple involves removing my duodenum, gallbladder, the head of the pancreas and the distal part of the stomach. If all goes well during surgery, my recovery could last up to 2 months. Fingers are crossed. My short term disability will not cover all of the expenses incurred.

The stress alone is enough to break anyone, but I'm a pretty tough girl who pulls through anything that's thrown in my direction. I would be very grateful and thankful if you could help me during my time of need. I can't do this alone. I appreciate your support in my time of need.
