Celine (25yo) Metastatic Stage IV GOJ Cancer Fund

Donation protected
Thank you for taking the time to visit this page for Celine. I'm Celine's sister Maggie and we are fraternal twins. I've made this page as my appeal for help to anyone in this community, locally or internationally to assist with raising money for chemotherapy, palliative care and hospital bills.

My sister Celine is 25, and we both settled in Melbourne to begin our lives after our father and mother had died in recent years from aggressive cancers. Having stayed bedside with our parents till their last days, we never imagined either of us would be fighting cancer again so quickly.

In December 2020, Celine was admitted into the Royal Melbourne Hospital with pain to her oesophagus, chest, stomach and abdomen areas, general fatigue and had been unable to eat.

Days before Christmas, Celine was diagnosed with a Stage IV 'Gastro Oesophageal Junction' (GOJ) which is an aggressive and rare cancer that has spread from a tumour in her Oesophagus area and has spread (metastatic) across her body including lungs and stomach.

I was advised by the caring doctors at Royal Melbourne Hospital and the Peter Mac Cancer Centre, that Celine's oesophageal cancer, unfortunately, cannot be removed by surgery and that this aggressive cancer will cause Celine to have a limited life span of up to six months. I have had to convince my sister that life is worth living and that even an extra day together is worth the pain of chemo. Together we are hoping the chemo will make a dent in the spread of the cancer with the aim of extending her life.

I am appealing to anyone who can assist Celine to raise funds for the chemotherapy medication and medical expenses to extend her life, as we don't have the means to afford the growing unexpected medical costs. I sincerely appreciate any funds raised towards Celine's medical expenses, as she is unable to work and has no other family than myself.

Every day, I care for my sister, Celine, and I now ask for your genorosity to help fund chemotherapy treatments, PET CT scans and palliative care items, including a wheelchair, shower aids and hospital bed. I had been working multiple jobs to make ends meet and now back to zero. I greatly appreciate anyone able to support us through this challenging experience. Cancer has beaten our family non-stop, please help my sister extend her life.

2021 January Update

25/01 Celine is starting her first chemotherapy treatment today.

Hi everyone, my name is Maggie, I am Celine's sister, managing this account on her behalf.  Celine is all I have left and I pray that the chemotherapy treatment will begin to fight the spread of cancer. Please let anyone you know about our situation.

31/01 From Maggie: "I find it incredibly difficult to express in words how appreciative it has been to witness the outpour of compassion, kindness, prayers and support from the community.

Time passed quickly since the initial diagnosis. My brave sister has faced unimaginable anguish from advanced physical and mental deterioration. Where the stomach meets the throat, there is a gastro oesophageal junction polypoid mass with central ulceration, which began to cause blood to be coughed up. Staff identified a morphine allergy and Celine has been unable to eat the smallest amount of food because of the spread of unbearable pain and nausea.

On Saturday, 30 January 2021, Celine underwent a further CT Chest Pulmonary Angiogram after experiencing tightness in her chest, shortness of breath, increased nausea and palpitations.

It is with sadness that I share what radiology advised:

New left hilar lesion measuring approximately 18 x 11 mm.

Multiple solid pulmonary nodules measuring 4mm has marginally increased when compared to previous study.

Multiple lesions in the right lobe of liver in keeping with metastatic disease.

Progressive metastatic disease throughout the lungs and upper abdomen.

I have halted donations as Celine's fundraiser has reached and exceeded the desperate goal.

Every day in the cancer centre, I come across other family members attending their loved ones. It deeply pains me that we are all suffering and caring without hesitation for our loved ones who feel diminishing hope.

Please spread your love and compassion through the countless fundraisers on this platform with families enduring unspeakable pain as they seek support for their loved ones battling cancer and terminal illness."

Thank you.
