Cello for a future

Hallo, mijn naam is Gala Lozynska. Vanuit een achterstandsituatie in Oekraïne via een studie in Praag tot een prestigieuze Master aan de HKU in Utrecht, dat was mijn weg naar vrijheid. Nu verbind ik mensen met mijn muziek, door projecten zoals het Ensemble Suspirium, dat ik met zangeres Iris Bouman heb opgezet. De leden komen uit alle delen van de wereld.

Om het beste van mijzelf te kunnen geven heb ik ook een passend instrument nodig.

Deze crowdfunding zal mij helpen bij de aankoop van een bijzondere barokcello. Hiermee kan ik nieuwe deuren naar de oude schoonheid van de barokmuziek openen en een stabiele basis krijgen voor een toekomst met deze betoverende muziek.

Het instrument is in 1766 gebouwd door luthier Johannes Theodorus Cuypers uit Den Haag, een van de meest prominente (Nederlandse) bouwers uit die tijd. Zijn instrumenten zijn vergelijkbaar met die van Amati en Stradivarius.

Voor dit soort instrumenten zoeken de eigenaren vaak naar een match met de toekomstige bespeler.

Deze cello, met een iets kleinere body dan normaal bij de juiste afmetingen qua snaarlengte, past bij mijn wat kleinere postuur.

Het is een zeer elegante cello met een consistente, fraaie en krachtige toon, wat weer past bij mijn manier van musiceren. Door het instrument te bespelen op een manier die erbij past, wordt het steeds beter en blijft in waarde stijgen.

Ik ben totaal verliefd op de klank, maar heb er vooral mee ontdekt hoe ik mijn spel nog meer kan verdiepen en verbreden. Ook andere mensen hoorden dit. Toen ik het instrument een maand in bruikleen had, keek iedereen om me heen op vanwege de klank en kwaliteit. Momenteel bezit ik een ander instrument; het is goed, maar niet vergelijkbaar met deze Rolls-Royce onder de cello’s uit de 18de eeuw.

Natuurlijk kom je zo’n instrument niet elke dag tegen en is het een hele stap zo’n dure aankoop te doen. Dit zal me enorm helpen met het creëren van mogelijkheden om muziekprojecten te starten en over de hele wereld te spelen. Deze cello kan cruciaal zijn voor mijn carrière, kans op werk, inkomen en onafhankelijkheid in de toekomst.

Ik zal mijn eigen cello's verkopen. Daarnaast zal ik via Cultuur en Ondernemen en enkele fondsen financiering aanvragen. Toch kom ik dan nog €15.000 tekort om de cello van mijn dromen te kunnen kopen.

Hiervoor vraag ik uw steun. Vanzelfsprekend nodig ik u hiervoor dan graag uit te komen luisteren.

Hello, my name is Gala Lozynska. From a disadvantaged situation in Ukraine through a study in Prague to a prestigious Master at the HKU in Utrecht, that was my path to freedom. This crowdfunding will help me purchase a special baroque cello. With this I can open new doors to the ancient beauty of baroque music and gain a stable foundation for a future with this enchanting music.

The instrument was built in 1766 by luthier Johannes Theodorus Cuypers of The Hague, one of the most prominent (Dutch) builders of the time. His instruments are comparable to those of Amati and Stradivarius.

For these types of instruments, owners often look for a match with the future player.

This cello, with a slightly smaller body than normal with the correct dimensions in terms of string length, suits my somewhat smaller stature.

It is a very elegant cello with a consistent, beautiful and powerful tone, which in turn suits my way of making music. By playing the instrument in a way that suits it, it gets better and better and continues to increase in value.

I am totally in love with the sound, but more importantly, it has helped me discover how to deepen and broaden my playing even more. Other people heard this as well. When I had the instrument on loan for a month, everyone around me looked up because of its sound and quality. Currently I own another instrument; it is good, but not comparable to this Rolls-Royce among cellos from the 18th century.

Of course, you don't come across an instrument like this every day and it is quite a step to make such an expensive purchase. This will help me tremendously with creating opportunities to start music projects and play all over the world. This cello can be crucial to my career, job opportunity, income and independence in the future.

I will sell my own cellos. I will also apply for funding through Cultuur en Ondernemen and some funds. Still, this will leave me €15,000 short of being able to buy the cello of my dreams.
