Charlotte's Battle Against a Rare form of Cancer
Donation protected
Charlotte has been diagnosed with a rare form of cancer ( Merkel Cell Carcinoma) where limited treatment options exist. She is a single mother to a 10-year-old girl, and the sole source of income for her family. Charlotte worked in healthcare until recently becoming unemployed and enduring multiple surgeries. Her battle with cancer has been challenging and many of her treatment options are only available in Toronto, Seattle, and overseas. Stage 3 of this form of cancer has a high recurrence and a high morbidity rate, e.g. 50% of patients die within 8 months of diagnosis.
Charlotte is always helping others and is an excellent role model and mother. Over the years, she has generously volunteered her time and donated money to help Cops for Cancer, the BC Cancer Centre, Red Cross and Big Brothers. Beyond that, Charlotte has positively impacted many individual lives through her work and social life. Charlotte always looks on the bright side of every situation and her smile is contagious. She has a great sense of humour and is a strong, independent woman.
As a mother, she has taught her daughter about the power of positivity and to be respectful and kind. Like her mom, her daughter is an amazing young girl who is always trying to help others.
Through surgeries and radiation, this diagnosis has put the family under severe financial pressure. All funds raised will go directly to Charlotte's treatment and travel expenses.
Every daughter needs her mother and this brave woman is everything to her ten-year-old girl. Charlotte is her daughter's world.
