Bring a Community Garden to the Lower East Side!
Tax deductible
Help us bring a clean, educational community vegetable garden to the Lower East Side in NYC and be a part of transforming kids' relationship to food. (Video here )
Chefs for Impact , a non profit aiming to inspire a more mindful relationship with food in ways that are good for our health, planet, and taste buds, is renovating the community garden @ Grand Street Settlement At Rutgers Community Center as part of our youth education program, Chefs for Kids , and we need your help!
Last renovated 5 years ago, the community garden is dilapidated and completely unused. Contributing to the construction and maintenance of this vegetable garden means investing in the health of younger generations and a more sustainable future. Most kids in our educational programs in NYC haven't ever been exposed to common fruits and vegetables like strawberries or squash, and we at Chefs for Impact are striving to change that by teaching kids where their food comes from and how to grow it!
This garden will serve as a focal point of our curriculum teaching the kids all about food, seasonality, health, and our planet. We want to plant a seed of food sustainability into these young children and get them excited about eating healthier through hands-on learning like planting, harvesting and cooking what they’ve grown.
All funds donated will go directly to the renovation, maintenance, and programming around the community garden.
