A Letter from Coach Porter:
Family, Friends, and Fans of wrestling,
In a couple of weeks, another season of high school and middle school wrestling will begin. Once again I am asking for financial help with travel costs, tournaments, and a new mat for Long Middle School. That mat was our first in 1987 and it is not safe for our athletes anymore. The mat we are looking at for Long is around $8,000 . After 30 years of coaching wrestling this will be my last. I will be leaving it to a former wrestler of mine, Terence Warren, who has been with me the last two years and will be again this year. He has two young boys, that have an interest in wrestling as well. That should keep him here for awhile. I have enjoyed coaching wrestling more than I could have imagined. The positive change that I witnessed in the young men that wrestled for me over the years and the confidence they acquired will be something I will always cherish. I am looking forward to spending time with Marsha and our grandchildren when this season is over. Thank you so much for helping with the wrestling teams over the years and for the future.
