Cheryl Rosen - Save My Car! Health & Finance Fund

Donation protected

I’m desperate and alone. I have no family to turn to. A few friends have helped (but not many).  And now, I don’t know what to do.

I am a good person, a loving, caring person who has unselfishly made sacrifices for others throughout my life and never asked or expected anything in return. But, now I need help.

If you can muster up the goodness in your heart and a few extra dollars, please help me. I would help you if I could.

My story has been featured on an episode of ‘SOAPBOX’ on WCAC-TV in Worcester.  You can see the entire show here.  https://archive.org/details/SOAPBOX1209.

WHO I AM

My name is Cheryl Rosen. And I am as Worcester, Massachusetts, as it gets. I’m a proud graduate of Doherty High School and Clark University, am active in the local Jewish community and attend many political events and functions.

I am a self-employed photographer/graphic designer. I have been an active member of the Hudson Rotary Club and others in Central Massachusetts for more than 20 years and a past president of Gift of Life New England, an organization which provides lifesaving surgeries to children around the world with congenital heart defects.

A MEDICAL MISDIAGNOSIS, BEING STALKED BY A NEIGHBOR, MOM DIED

The last few years I have gone through a lot - the loss of my mother, the stress of being stalked by a neighbor, deteriorating health and, subsequently, a loss of wages.

Health wise, I am falling apart. I’m in desperate need of root canals, crowns and implants as a result of my stalker. I have already had infections in my teeth twice. And insurance won’t pay for any of this.

The uncorrected dental problem specifically affects one of my health issues, Trigeminal Neuralgia, in which an artery is pressing against a nerve in the base of my skull sending stabbing pain through the upper and lower jaw on both sides of my mouth and into my ear.

To make matters worse, I was misdiagnosed with multiple sclerosis. This year, I was finally diagnosed with reactivated Epstein Barr Virus and Cytomegalovirus, along with Hypogammaglobulinemia (CVID), a rare immune deficiency, requiring weekly blood product infusions for the rest of my life. Many of my medications and supplemental treatments are also not covered by insurance.

What I am going through I wouldn’t wish on my worst enemy. Then again, I have never had a feeling of ill-will to others. It’s not in my nature.

WHY DO I NEED YOUR HELP?

First and foremost, I need to get better. I need my independence back. And the only way I can get better and be independent is to have my car.

If I don’t come up with $5,000 by the end of the month (September), I lose my car and become a shut-in, deteriorating in health every day.

A car is crucial to have because I am in and out of visits with counselors, physical therapists, neurologists, chiropractor, immunologist, sleep neurologist, vision & hearing specialists, endocrinologists, labs for monthly bloodwork, infusion treatments, orthopedic surgeons, urologist, rheumatologist, primary care physician, and dentists, so often, that rarely a day goes by that I don’t have some kind of medical appointment, and some of the appointments are as far as Northampton and Boston.

I have a personal care attendant but insurance won’t allow her to drive me to appointments. Paratransit is not reliable timewise (oftentimes, if you’re late 5-10 minutes, your appointment is canceled, no matter how far you traveled) and, even if they were reliable, they are not able to combine two to three appointments in any given day, which is often the case.

I need a car so I can continue my quality of life.

PLEASE HELP ME

I know everyone has bad luck. I know everyone hits hard times. But I have run out of options and people to turn to. That is why I am turning to you. Any donation, small and large will help. Please share this with everyone you know. If you want to hear more details about my plight (and there are plenty of details that I am willing to share), don’t hesitate to contact me directly at [email redacted].
