For the Children of Taruka, Nepal
Donation protected
Please help me raise money to rebuild the two schools destroyed by the recent earthquake in Taruka, Nepal and stock them with much needed educational resources. My aim is to raise a total of £14,000. The rebuilding of each school will cost £6,500 and each school also require £500 for educational resources.
On June 3, 2015, I visited the small, remote village of Taruka in the foothills of the Himalaya, to offer whatever help I could. The village is devasted and the lives of the people have been changed forever. The people are hungry and the vast majority are homeless, now living in makeshift shelters with several families sharing each shelter. The temporary homes are little more than bamboo poles draped with tarpolines.
The greatest concern expressed by the villagers is the children's education and the rebuilding of the schools, which are at the heart of the community and key to its future.
The school principles and teachers are doing an incredible job in trying to bring some sense of normality, routine and education back into the lives of the children. The weather is appallingly hot and the monsoons will soon arrive bringing with them further difficulties and potential disease.
We need to act quickly! Please donate as much as you can to help raise the £14,000 to rebuild the schools. Please make your donation no later than August 31, 2015.
I will personally guarantee that each donation, in full, will be used to provide secure schooling for the children of Taruka. I am being helped by a number of friends including Mohan Lamsil (Makalu Adventure, Kathmandu) and the principles and teachers of the schools.
I will pay all fees associated with raising the money to rebuild the schools. I will adhere to the Institute of Fundraising code of ethics. No expenses or charges will be taken out of money raised for this appeal.
I will update this website on a regular basis to show the progress that is being made.
Thank you for reading this appeal.
