Support for Chris Ramirez & Family

There are few people in this world that truly deserve bad things to happen to them; Chris Ramirez is certainly not one of them. But, as it normally goes, tragedy can be a fickle and tricky thing. Sometimes it is the most hard-working, loving, and generous people that fall victim to the most inexplicably tragic events. The day was nothing special; it was just another day on the job. Working with a generator, Chris was unexpectedly shocked with enough electricity to take down someone 3 times his size. Now at only 21 years of age, Chris lays unresponsive in a hospital bed.

Jackie Ramirez, Chris' mother, has always endeavored to make the lives of her 3 children as best as humanly possible. She worked days in Austin saving children from neglect and abusive homes, and nights as a beloved umpire on the Round Rock softballs fields. But yesterday, she spent her day watching her son spend his 22nd birthday in a hospital bed, and her night trying to explain to his too young nieces what is going on. But, unfortunately, as Chris lays fighting for his life, Jackie and the rest of her family must fight with the difficult decision of spending these precious moments with their son/brother/nephew/cousin/uncle or worrying about the mounting pile bills from the work they've missed.

This is a family that has been generous and caring for others their whole lives. I've watched as they've taken wayward teens into their home without a second glance. Shelbi, Chris' older sister, adopted two girls now aged 7 and 8 that she took in at the young age of 18 and raised them as her own. Two kids at such a young age is never easy, but this family managed it with grace and hard work. They are dedicated to each other in a way that would make anyone a bit envious. So when tragedy struck, they banded together to take care of their own.

This is why I started this campaign. A family shouldn't have to squander these precious moments with a hurt loved one because they have to worry about paying the electricity bill.. and the rent... and the water.. and the gas to get to and from the hospital.. and food.. and how they're gonna buy school supplies and new clothes.. the list goes on. We don't know if Chris will still be here tomorrow or 10 years from now, but I do know that this family deserves to spend whatever time they do have with Chris next to his side.

I didn't really know what to set the financial goal as, honestly. Anything will help, even just your positive thoughts or prayers towards Chris and his family. This family deserves so much more than this senseless tragedy they've received. I can't even begin to put in words what this family has done for me and many others. Whatever you can donate, be it positive thoughts or a dollar.. it will be greatly appreciated by this loving family.
