Chris was going about business as usual two weeks ago, running circle, helping with lessons etc., when he started a coughing fit. Upon asking him how he was feeling he described intense pain and unease (that he had been working under the duration of for days). He resisted the idea of going home and to the doctor out of loyalty to his job, the fact that he had no insurance, and because our lead teacher was on vacation at the time. When prodded that he really ought to, he reluctantly relinquished.
That afternoon we learned that Chris had a collapsed lung.
Two weeks and three surgeries later, Chris is still in the hospital recovering. He is still waiting for the hole in his lung to close, and crossing his fingers that he won't have to have yet another surgery.
Chris will be starting an internship at Stanley British Primary in August to get his Masters in teaching. This program, while a great opportunity for Chris to pursue his love of teaching, is an unpaid position. Having a baby due in mid September, Chris has been saving as much as is possible to save on a teachers salary. This recent development with his health has caused a huge set-back for he & his partner financially.
We have banded together to support one of the members of our community during his time of tribulation. Please join us in giving back to Chris. Any help you could contribute would be such a blessing for him and his new family!
