Christmas gift for children in direct provision

Over the last 3 years, ECIYC has provided families living in direct provision across the country with toys and gift cards for Christmas. These families are often not able to afford to buy a gift of choice for their children as they only receive a living allowance of €38.60 per week. Many parents also cannot afford to give their children the perfect Christmas as they can't afford it due to work restrictions imposed on people seeking asylum and also because the living conditions and rules for those living in Direct Provision simply do not allow for this to be possible. Many parents rely on our support every year for their children to have presents to open on Christmas day. Our aim is to ensure that these families don’t go without each year.

Due to Covid-19, our usual drop off donation drive has become impossible for us to achieve. Therefore, we are trying a new approach by donating a supermarket voucher so that the family can provide food and gifts for the children this Christmas. Our aim is to provide at least 1500 vouchers to families across the country with a €40 voucher for a local supermarket.
