Comfort In Your Own Skin: Top Surgery for Michael

Michael, now 19, has been apart of my life since he was 7 years old. I've been fortunate to be one of his parental figures and to witness, guide and offer love as he explores this adventure, called life.
We each come to this life as a unique expression of self, of human, of being, and it is our job to dive in to the discovery of who we are. As a young teen, Michael came to understand that he was experiencing gender dysphoria, which is the condition of feeling one's emotional and psychological identity as male or female to be opposite to one's biological sex. This experience has been the cause of great distress and turmoil within Michael.
I am fortunate to come from a family of which my parents and grandparents made it very clear as to why we are here on this earth; to love, unconditionally. In having the opportunity to help mother Mike, I take this job very seriously, to carry forward this legacy, of love. There is no question in my being, as to why we are here, it is very simple and straight forward, it is, to love.
“What do we live for if not to make the world less difficult for each other?”—George Eliot.
"If you judge people, you have no time to love them." -Mother Theresa.
Treatment for gender dysphoria can involve supporting the person through changes in gender expression and what is next for Michael, is the form of treatment called Top Surgery. This involves the surgical removal of breast tissue to generate a masculine chest contour. Top surgery is the next step in the process of treating distress due to a difference between experienced gender and sex assigned at birth. Michael is ready to get on with his life, to carry onward into important ventures, such as studying to become and art teacher. It is the season of light, love, joy, peace, and it is also the season of Michael's Birthday!
Join me in spreading the love and contribute to the future of this young man, who is off to make the world a better place! No contribution is too small. Thank you for helping spread the love. In this season of darkness, we can shine even brighter!
