Covid-19 URGENT appeal for Bansang Hospital
Health workers all over the world are at the front line of the COVID-19 Pandemic response. They are predisposed to hazards that subject them to such a high risk of infection.
Bansang Hospital will be the main isolation hospital for the population of 600,000 people that it serves. We are expecting the hospital will soon be overwhelmed. We only have 197 beds for patients and 400 staff. Coupled with the fact the markets have now closed as crowded areas are out of bounds, they are left with just a few places to obtain food and other essential commodities such as pharmaceuticals.
The majority of the population that the hospital serves are subsistence farmers who live hand to mouth. In these trying times we need to be able to provide them with nutritious meals as well as assisting the remarkable staff who will be under so much pressure caring for patients in unbearable temperatures that presently exceed 40 Celsius.
With your help we are aiming to supplement the government’s efforts as they concentrate on the logistics of Covid-19. We need to purchase enough food to support both the patients and our wonderful staff during this difficult time as they stand up to immense challenges posed by Covid19 during these unprecedented times.
