Cowan Family Medical Fund

It takes friends and family to push through pain and challenges. Sarah and Fred’s son, Zander was a passenger in a recent car accident and was med flighted to Boston on Friday night. We are all thankful and blessed that he is alive but he has a long road of recovery ahead of him. He is hospitalized and in stable condition waiting for numerous surgical procedures. We all hope that he will eventually be working through rehabilitation locally but for now, Fred and Sarah are staying in Boston in a hotel. Due to the pandemic restrictions, they are not able to see him and have been limited to speaking to him on the phone. He is in a great deal of pain and hopefully post-surgery that will subside. All donation amounts are welcome and greatly appreciated. They will go directly to Fred and Sarah to cover the costs they are enduring at this time.

Sarah and Fred have touched many of us as well as our children. Sarah was a teacher and director at the Sandwich Montessori School for many years. Prior to working for Barnstable Public Schools, Fred worked with many of our children within the Sandwich school district. Children have always been their passion and focus. Sarah currently works as an Associate Executive Director of Youth Development at the South Shore YMCA where she is taking time off to care for Zander. 

Perhaps you may know Alexander (Zander) from his landscaping business, which he started in middle school. This has grown into Cowan Property Maintenance LLC and is an example of Zan’s hard work and reliable dedication. In conjunction with his enjoyment of landscaping, he has always returned calls from people in need of plowing assistance during the winter storms.  Zander recently completed EMT training and was participating in the interview process at West Barnstable Fire Department. He was pursuing his dream of becoming a volunteer firefighter. If you have not met him, but know Sarah and Fred, Zan is of the same warmth, caring, and compassion that his parents are.
