Duwamish Rowing's New Launch Fund
Donation protected
Duwamish Rowing Club was founded in 2011 with the idea that rowing should be affordable, accessible, and open to anyone who wants to participate. With this goal in mind, DRC has a "pay what you can" policy for all youth rowers, and offers one of the lowest dues in the area for adult rowers. While this model helps with making rowing more accessible to the South Seattle community, it means the team operates with little funds outside of grants and donations.
Over the weekend of July 21-22, the team's only coaches' launch (boat) was stolen. While the boat itself has been recovered, the motor, gas, and all safety equipment onboard were taken. The team is unable to practice without a coaching launch (used for safety and instruction). Replacing the stolen items will cost more than the team can afford at this time, and with our Bilingual Learn To Row classes starting in under 3 weeks, we are in need of the community's help.
We are hoping to raise enough money to replace the stolen items, as well as start a small emergency fund. Any amount is greatly appreciated, and will ensure that Duwamish Rowing can continue bringing the sport of rowing to underserved communities in and around Seattle.
