A Little Help From Friends

If you've spent any amount of time in Portsmouth, you know Dan Barfield. He's the friend who shows up with a ready smile and a great bear hug, always willing lend a hand. Today Dan needs a little help from us.
Here is the message from his family:
Dan, Danny, Danny Boy, Dan-the-Man, Brothahh, Uncle Dan or Dad. Whatever your handle for Dan Barfield, he has always done his best to be there for you. Respect and friendship is all he has ever wanted or needed in return. A man with a huge heart and a phone that will be answered at all hours of the day and night. We all know how stubborn this man can be (and he’s not ashamed to admit it) but now he needs some help.
In early February, Dan Barfield was diagnosed with Squamous Cell Carcinoma - A rare form of cancer that developed in his neck near his lymph nodes. Luckily, this was caught early and surgery was scheduled and completed within weeks of his diagnosis. They removed 75-85% of the cancer which, by his doctor's evaluation, was a great success. The family is watching over to make sure he gets the best care available!
Phase 2: Radiation and Chemotherapy. This is where you come in. Dan started his treatment weeks ago and is no longer able to work - though it won't come as a surprise to know he tried. He is lucky beyond his wildest dreams for the friends and family close by to support him during this time. If you know “Danny boy” like we do, he would never sign off on asking anyone for help. Luckily he doesn’t know what “GoFundMe” even means. Now, in his time of need, it is our duty to help him find out.
This is a request for any amount, big or small, that can help bring peace of mind. All funds will go towards his daily living expenses, medical bills, and medications while he's not able to work. We, the family, and his closest friends, thank you from the bottom of our hearts for any help you can give to the man we all love dearly.
One day soon, we will all be back around a grill drinking beers with Danny. And everyone is invited.
