Danielle's Medical Fund
Danielle Houk is the much-loved daughter of Val and Dan Houk. Their beautiful 29-year-old "special" girl has cerebral palsy and seizure disorder. She loves her parents, friends, dogs, and most of all music. Danielle was admitted to the hospital with pneumonia after a visit to the ER on Sunday, April 10. On Monday morning, she had to be moved to the critical ward and put on full life support. As her condition worsened, other options were pursued, resulting in Danielle being transferred via life flight to the nationally known critical health hospital, Legacy Emanuel in Portland, Oregon. Val and Dan drove down and joined Danielle in Oregon, and are currently staying at a nearby hotel to be near their precious girl. Thankfully, with the expertise of the top-notch medical team and lots of prayer, Danielle has been slowly improving, though she is still considered very critical and at a life-threatening stage. The medical team has informed Val and Dan that even with the best case scenario for Danielle's recovery, they are looking at her being in the hospital for weeks of care.
Though Danielle's medical expenses are covered at this point, Val and Dan's living expenses are not. They are not able to work while they are caring for their daughter, and the expenses for hotel and food are quickly adding up. They are currently looking into a long-term solution to their housing that would be more affordable than the hotel. They reluctantly agreed to my starting a GFM account on their behalf, but I know some loving assistance from their friends and family would be greatly appreciated, would be a huge blessing and one less worry for them.
Val and Dan would like to sincerely thank you for your prayers, words of encouragement and loving concern. It has held them up, given them hope and comfort, and has surely been a huge part of Danielle's survival. Many of you have asked how you can help beyond prayer. Here is your chance. Won't you consider blessing this wonderful family with whatever you can afford? Thank you all for your generosity and compassion. Keep praying for Danielle, Val and Dan! God bless!
