Help me become a StoryTeller

Donation protected
Growing up I was always fascinated by TV news. I especially admired those on air. It amazed me how the anchors could captivate everyone in the room.

I spent many nights dreaming about being the one behind the anchor desk. Problem was I did only that...dream. Breaking into TV News looked impossible without any money or connections. So I became a bank teller and pursued a degree in Computer Networking. I thought I had it all figured out, I was a few months away from my Associates degree and had plans to move up into the I.T department in the bank.

Then, in March of 2015 - one month before finishing my degree -  I felt like I had a calling. I decided I would finally pursue my dream and try to become a Storyteller on TV.

I took a road trip to every television station within driving distance of my home in West Baltimore. I sought out hiring managers and dropped of resumes. Like most job hunting stories go, I received a ton of rejection.

Fast-forward two months, May of 2015 I finally had my break out moment! One of the television stations decided to take a chance on me. On May 11, 2015 I started my career when WBFF-FOX 45 in Baltimore hired me as a Master Control Operator.

Since then I have been going full throttle, taking the first steps toward working in News. I work 40+ hours a week in Master Control, but on my days off I use my free time to head out and cover stories with some of our reporters. For the last 5 months I have spent everyday, except one, at the station trying to learn every thing I can. Now, after countless sleep deprived nights, I stand today with a much more in-depth understanding of the business. In that time I’ve produced, reported, written, voiced and edited 17 news packages. Starting out I had no prior experience or knowledge of the broadcast business, all I had was a dream and whole lot of determination.

The reason I have created this GoFundMe page is to ask you for your help so I can take my craft to the next level... one that will lead to a full time job as a Television News Reporter or MMJ.

From March 13, 2016 - March 18, 2016 the NPPA, The National Press Photographers Association, is holding a 5-day News Video Workshop in Norman, Oklahoma. This workshop is taught by award winning journalists from across the country and provide a entire week of intense learning and powerful critiques. Good Journalists have become great Journalists after spending a week in Norman. The faculty says ‘it’s the week that will change your life’... I’m ready.

All money raised will go toward registration, airfare, and hotel.

To those who are able to help me cover the cost of attending this workshop, all I ask for is a $10 donation and that you share this Fundraiser with your friends and family on one of your social media pages.

Thank You for investing in my future!
