Darryn Larbie Memorial

Words seem so inadequate to express the loss of a child, and the heartfelt grief that accompanies so great a burden of heaviness of one’s heart.

It is with great sadness we share that Rita Larbie, a Perfusionist located at Valley Baptist in Harlingen, TX, lost her son Darryn on October 22, 2018. Please pray that God will strengthen and comfort Rita Larbie and her family and give them peace that surpasses all understanding.

Darryn was a mature young man of 20 years of age who loved his family and appreciated the gift of life. He was involved with the youth ministry at the church he attended, and had an excellent spirit. He was full of life, and the light of God was in him, and he was always telling people about the Goodness and Grace of God, evangelizing those around him by his actions toward others. Darryn will be greatly missed, but his kindness & gentle spirit will be remembered forever by those who knew and loved him.

Darryn & Darryl his twin brother had both completed associate degrees in biology and both were third year pre-medical students attending the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley.

Rita was born in Ghana, Africa, and her mother was a nurse midwife and evangelist who hosted several Christian Missionary Teams for Operation Smile. Rita grew up around American and Great Britain missionary teams and came to America for a better opportunity in life for her and her family. In 2016, Rita was a volunteer with Cardiostart, International on a medical mission trip to Kumasi, Ghana.

She is a single mother who put herself through Perfusion school while taking care of her twin boys with sickle cell disease. Rita was on Family Medical Leave for Darryl, who was under going medical treatment, and Darryn was always helping take care of his twin brother.
