On August 22nd, our world came to a pause. God set into motion a plan we could never have seen coming for our rock, husband, Dad, and Pappy. My dad is a bicycle enthusiast. He didn’t do it for marathons or clout. He did it to keep the body God gave him in good health. He does it to keep up with his 5 grandkids (and in many cases they’ve had to keep up with him! ). That morning was like any other Sunday morning where he planned to take his weekly 30 mile bike ride. While the ‘how’ is still unclear, he was struck from behind on route 488 by a vehicle. We are forever grateful to the responders who came to that call and made the decision to have him flown to Baltimore Shock Trauma where he received the best treatment/surgeries he could have in his condition. At this point, we prayed for his life. Everyone prayed and we are so thankful. We knew he had a critical spinal injury, neck injury and we later learned he had a traumatic brain injury. These injuries have caused paralysis from his chest down, and weakened other extremities and motor functions. He has a very long road ahead to recovery, to which no one but God knows where the finish line lies. His wife, Kelly and him are going to be met with a lot of financial obstacles for getting him therapy, equipment, care, renovations to make their house more accessible, along with time off work. I want to help alleviate as much pressure as possible so the focus can be on healing. If you know my dad, you know that his faith has only grown stronger in this process. He is determined that God will get the glory for this! Thank you everyone for all your prayers and reaching out to us, checking on him, it truly means the world! If you are able, join me in helping ease the burdens. It’s forever appreciated. ❤️
