Dean Otsuki Celebration of Life Fund

My name is Sharon Otsuki and I want to tell you about my brother-in-law, Dean. From the first time I met him, he always wanted to make this world a better place, especially when it comes to keeping the beaches and oceans clean. He managed, along with his wife Suzanne Frazer, a nonprofit to accomplish many good things for that cause.

Unfortunately Dean was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML), in late May 2023. AML is a very aggressive and fast-moving type of blood cancer. He transformed to AML from CMML2 (Chronic Myelomonocytic Leukemia) which he had for 14 years, sometime after April 20, 2023. The doctors also found a large tumor in his heart and were going to operate but couldn't because of the AML diagnosis.

Sadly, Dean lost his battle on the morning of December 8, 2023. His wife Suzanne is working hard to organize a Celebration of Life for Dean.

It will take place on: December 23, 2023 at 8am-11am in Waikiki at the beach in front of the Royal Hawaiian Hotel (the pink one). There will be a traditional surfer's paddle out just past the surf to scatter his ashes.

Please allow ample time to park and walk to the beach.
