Debbie Holbert Medical Expenses
Thank you for taking the time to read this, and your clicking on this to even consider giving.
This is my mother, Debbie Holbert. She has recently been diagnosed with Adult Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia which is very rare, last year only 5,400 people were diagnosed with what she has. She also has a malignant tumor in her kidney.
Unfortunately her insurance is subpar, and is not covering the majority of the procedures and treatments she is receiving. Procedures such as: several Bone Marrow biopsy’s, several Spinal Taps, Endoscopy's, GI scans, PET scans, biopsy's and of course Chemo.
With the intensity and precariousness of her situation she has been admitted for a minimum of 6 weeks. Beyond that her oncologist has a very aggressive plan that involves her being in the hospital for 3 weeks and out 1 week repeated over the next 6 months.
The good news is that my mom has one of the best Oncologist's in the Nation and has several top of the line specialists on her case. This top of the line staff unfortunately costs quite a bit. The aggressive plan and the outstanding team have my mom feeling confident, however, she is overwhelmed but the cost of all the procedures and whatnot.
This sudden turn of events has come at a very difficult financial time as my father is disabled and on social security. Also my parents have taken in my mothers, mother to live with them while she undergoes 12 hours a day of dialysis. Obviously my mother is unable to attend work, and so their income had dramatically decreased as their debt continuous to accumulate, and has exponentially increased.
The main reason for this Gofundme account is because my mother at the time this all happened was on a "bare bones" insurance plan that is covering a very, very small portion of the cost of all of her treatment as well as her inpatient fees. It turns out the cost of having cancer is astronomical, and her insurance does not cover astronomical.
Anything and I truly mean anything, will be of huge assistance to my parents. They are beyond overwhelmed with their circumstances. I am unaware of an actual tangible figure of need, but am convinced with how poorly her coverage is that she will be lucky to have her insurance cover even 20% of the cost.
Please do not be afraid to donate even $1 I promise that they will appreciate your generosity.
