Derron's Road to Recovery

Derron Whitaker is the father of Ian, Kara and Ashley and the husband of Karen Whitaker. Derron was involved in an accident on November 6, 2017. There was an explosion at a distillery he was working in and he was lifeflighted to Memorial Herman with 2nd and 3rd degree burns. While he is doing well right now after multiple surgeries, he will need more to come and will likely be in the hospital through the end of the year. There is an investigation into the cause and details of the incident, however in the meantime my dad isn't able to work and probably won't be able to for a while and we have no details on financial responsibility longterm for his accident. My little brother Ian is in school right now and just made regional band. He is taking private lessons to continue to improve his skills. My mom is working full time as usual but taking off quite a bit to be there as much as possible and when  he has surgeries. My sister's and my family are doing everything we can to help out financially as well as with keeping Ian in a relatively normal environment so he can focus on band and school. We do however have our families to care for so we are asking for help for my little brother and my mom.  This includes money for groceries, pet supplies, household items and whatever she may need help with at home. Derron should be covered for workman's comp for the hospital however we are not sure if that extends to physical therapy or at home care once he leaves the hospital.  We also are accepting donations of cleaning supplies, laundry detergent, dog food, cat food, kitty litter, toilet paper, etc.
