Di'Mariya to Harvard -Envision GYII

     Hello, my name is Di’Mariya Baskin, and I am a 9th Grader at Sumner Hill Jr. High School in Clinton, Ms.  I’ve recently had the honor of being invited to attend the Envision Global Young Leaders Initiative program this summer.  It will be held on the campuses of Harvard University, UCLA, Emory University, and the University of Chicago.  Since it is my future plan to be an attorney, I’ve chosen Harvard as my school of choice.  This is definitely a great opportunity, and I need your help to make it happen.  Donations will go towards tuition, room and board, and travel from Mississippi to Boston, Massachusetts.

     The Global Young Innovators Initiative is a very unique six day program that will assist me in strengthening my leadership and critical thinking skills, while also affording me with a great opportunity of a lifetime.  While at Harvard, I will work in small groups with other students from around the country.  We will be challenged to serve as real life business consultants on international development projects.  During this time, my small group will be consulting with local leaders in Nigeria to create sustainable solutions to their challenges.  In 2015, GYII students successfully found new ways to oxygenate fish tanks and make fish food for Sani Abdu, a fish farmer in Bauchi Nigeria, which helped him feed his community, decrease vitamin B deficiencies in children, and provide jobs where none existed before.

     I would love to participate in such an awesome program like this.  It will not only be a great personal experience, but it will also help me impact the world, and bring the knowledge and research skills back to my local community.
During my six days at GYII, my itinerary will go as follows:

This will be a wonderful and impactful experience for me that I look forward to sharing within my community.  To secure my enrollment spot, I’ll have to pay a $500 deposit as soon as possible, along with three payments of $500 which are due on the 15th of January, February, March, April and May.
