Help support Diane’s stage 4 cancer treatment fund

Hello friends and family.  I started this Go Fund Me page for my Aunt Diane and Uncle Dennis, to help pay for the insurmountable medical expenses they are incurring while Diane undergoes treatment for Stage 4 Ovarian Cancer for a 2nd time.  Their focus needs to be on treatment and healing at this difficult time, instead of worrying about how to pay for everything.  Approximately 4 years ago my Aunt Diane received the grim diagnosis of advanced stage 4 ovarian cancer.  Unfortunately,  ovarian cancer often goes undetected until an advanced stage.  She went through 2 major surgeries, ICU, 18 rounds of chemotherapy, and numerous adjuvant therapies.  If this wasn’t enough, my Uncle Dennis had just come through stage 4 cancer himself, surgery, radiation, chemo and job loss. Needless to say, the  last 7 years have been a very rough road for them financially. Fortunately, they have beaten the odds for survival when everything was stacked against them.  Diane’s doctor told her she was 1 in 10,000.  I am inspired and in awe of my aunt and uncle everyday as they navigate through these obstacles with strength and resilience. They are literally walking miracles. We want to keep it that way because they have come so far…but they cannot do this alone anymore.  As they say…sometimes it takes a village.

As you can imagine, their medical expenses are accumulating rapidly with no end in site.  Without the opportunity to recover financially from the first go around, their financial burden is overwhelming and unsustainable at this point.  Her case is very complex and her doctor is now focused on treatments that will kill her cancer cells but not destroy her body in the process, it’s already endured too much.  Her doctors are trying to avoid secondary cancers from developing, immune system impairment, organ damage, fatal infections, auto-immune issues, and yes….even death from chemotherapy treatment. Even with insurance, there are so many bills to pay, as not all treatments are covered. All funds raised will be used to pay for the inevitable medical expenses that come with treating, managing and preventing cancer of this magnitude. Your donation will help pay for outstanding and current medical bills, genetic testing used to tailor her chemo drugs, adjuvant treatments, supplementation/nutritional support therapies, injections, copays, etc. Her Lynparza drug alone is $15, 000 monthly before any insurance kicks in.  She couldn’t take it for 3 months when financial assistance was stopped, it was unaffordable.  

Diane is currently stabilized and remains very optimistic, but there is more work to be done.  It’s a 24/7 job for her. So let’s support Diane to ensure her recovery into a cancer free state. God forbid they are faced with the heartbreaking decision of living or dying, based on their ability to pay.  So let’s not give up on them.
