"The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? Though an army encamps against me, my heart shall not fear; though war rise up against me, yet I will be confident."

With a heavy heart, I have been asked by Joyce and John Sullivan to set up this Go-Fund-Me account for Donald. They would like to request financial help with medical expenses and funeral costs for Donald Gaffney who is losing his battle to complications associated with non- alcoholic related Cirrhosis of the liver.
The decision has been made that his time on earth is limited and there is nothing more the doctors can do to keep him alive and has called in hospice to keep him comfortable for his remainding time with his beautiful wife Elysa Graffney and family.
April 18, 2017 Donald was life flighted to a hospital for internal bleeding after several days his loving wife and the hospital staff made the arangments to get Donald home to Washington for further testing and decide if Donald could be a candidate for a kidney and liver transplant. Unfortunately, it was discovered that he has calcium build up on several vessels in his heart and will not benefit from either organ transplant nor might he even survive the tranplant procedure due to his heart condition and his weaking body and thus far having to make the decision for his depature here on earth, because without the transplant he doesnt have a fighting chance to live.
As we all knowing losing a loved one is hard enough without the burden of all the dreaded expenses and arrangements,
So Joyce and John Sullivan are asking to please take the time to donate for Donald who has worked very hard his whole life to proivde for his family and now needs your support so his time left with his wife and family is a little less stressful and funeral to be arranged just as wonderful and beautiful as he always has been....
The family would just like to say thank you for all of your support in all the ways you have been providing it. It's impossible to say thank you individually at this point.. Just please know that we are very thankful and very grateful and totally overwhelmed (in a good way) by the support we have received from family, friends, and strangers~so from our families to yours~thank you from the bottom of our hearts.......please continue to lift us up in your prayers..
Donald Served 15 plus years in the United States Navy and worked 30 plus years at Bangor Naval Station in Bremerton Washington.

Donald and Elysa established their lives in Belfair, Washington where they raised their kids; Rachel, Steven, Angela and Dj.
Donald holds his wife, kids and grand kids very dear to his heart and would do anything to see their smiling faces, placing them above his own wants and needs.
" Those we love dont go away, they walk beside us everyday, unseen, unheard, but always near and still loved, still missed and very dear"

Donald and his wife Elysa spent the last of his best days at Desert Ironwood Resort in Ocotillo Wells, CA with his sister and brother in law Joyce and John Sullivan. They both had been considering to make this place their second home with all their friends that became chosen family, doing what Donald loved, driving his buggy and playing in the dirt.

Lets all never forget his love for his dog Wilson. We will never forget how proud this tall man walked this little dog and allowed Wilson to rule Donald's world.

A Prayer Poem for the family
You were sick and tired and we all knew,
that God would soon come to take you.
You fought so hard, so very long,
but through the pain, you stayed strong.
We all knew there would come a day,
when God would come to carry you away.
It doesn't make it easier to say goodbye,
and I try so hard not to cry.
I can't help but feel defeated,
or even maybe a little cheated.
But how very selfish would I be,
to hope and pray you could stay with me.
So as you laid there tubes running to and fro,
I had to tell you "It's ok to go".
Say "Hi" to loved ones waiting on the other side.
I know some day; you'll be there when I take that ride.

Your life was a blessing
Your memory a treasure
You are loved beyond words
and will be missed beyond measure...
