My name is Basel Abu Riyala, and my wife Erin is an American citizen.

This is my message from the besieged and devastated city of Gaza to the American people.

My family and I are living in conditions that are no longer suitable for human life. Our home was completely destroyed, and we now sleep on the roadside in a torn tent that cannot protect us from the cold, disease, or the dangers around us.

We are surrounded by destruction, contaminated water, lack of food, and widespread infectious diseases. Every day is a struggle for survival.

My only hope is to unite with my beloved wife Erin in the United States. I am appealing to the kindness and humanity of people around the world—especially the American community—to help me evacuate from Gaza and join my wife so we can finally live in safety, dignity, and peace.
