For me, this campaign strikes particularly close to home because of the similarties with my own family's cancer experience. Eighteen months ago, my son and I unfortunately lost our mother and wife to cholangiocarcinoma - a cancer that strikes the liver. We truly understand the anxiety, confusion, sadness and grief Tony and Daniella Lozano are currently experiencing after suddenly losing their wife and mother, Sylvia, to a very similar form of liver cancer.
After my wife's passing, our dear friends created a GoFundMe account and mobilized an army of friends, family and work colleagues that generated enough funds to offset the out-of-pocket medical expenses we incurred during our cancer journey. It is now my time to reciprocate and do the same thing for another family in need and I am respectfully asking you to join me.
The funds we generate for this campaign will be used to pay for:
- medical bills
- hospice fees
- funeral expenses
- loss of income
- and health insurance coverage for Daniella.
Any remaining funds will be applied towards Daniella's college education which will soon begin in less than two years.
My cousin, Sylvia Lozano, 60, passed away on Friday, March 31 from complications resulting from liver cancer. Sylvia was transferred to a hospice facility on Thursday where she passed away the following day. As a registered nurse, Sylvia spent the last 38 years in the service of helping others. Sylvia is survived by her husband Tony Lozano and daughter Daniella Lozano, 18.
Daniella is a junior at Burges High School in El Paso, Texas where she is a member of Junior ROTC. Daniella is learning to play the piano and is studying engineering (robotics) and ASL (American Sign Language). After high school Daniella plans to attend college and study to become a dental hygienist.
To the families, friends, neighbors, colleagues, classmates, and acquaintances of Tony and Daniella, I ask that you strongly consider donating to this GoFundMe campaign and help us reach our financial goal. Please know your generous support not only affords Daniella the best opportunity to properly grieve the loss of her mother but also gives her the chance to pursue her personal amibitions to the fullest of her abilities - just like any child deserves.
