Sara Mazzitelli is a sixth-grade math teacher at Wyoming Area in Wyoming, Pennsylvania. She is a free-spirit who loves to travel and experience life to the absolute fullest. Her happiness and positivity are infectious. Sara constantly puts the needs of her students, family, friends and loved ones in front of her own without any hesitation.
On February 22nd, at the age of 31, Sara was diagnosed with a triple-negative form of Invasive Ductal Carsinoma (IDC) that has left the mammary duct and moved into breast tissue and several lymph nodes on her right side. IDC is one of the most common diagnoses of breast cancer, relating to roughly 80% of all breast cancers. The triple-negative rating, however, is only found within 15% of all breast cancer findings.
Sara has remained incredibly optimistic. Her will and spirit is stronger than any form of cancer and she will prevail.
Like all cancer diagnoses, time is of the essence. Things like surgeries, chemotherapy treatments and possible radiation are all parts of the journey we will be facing. With those parts of the journey comes medical costs. Luckily, Sara is blessed and fortunate to have so many people willing to help her out in any way that they can. What we ask from you is to please do the same. There is no donation too small or too petty. The mere thought of you willing to help out means the world to both Sara and the people surrounding her during this time.
Sara is an incredible role model for not only her sister, her parents and loved ones around her, but also her students that she cares so deeply for. We know that this will be a battle, but in the end, it will make us stronger. Sara will be able to look at anything else life throws at her and proceed with confidence knowing that she can and WILL end up on top.
