Fair Vacation Rental Regulations in Door County!
Donation protected
The Door County Vacation Rental Association needs your help! Vacation rental homeowners in Door County are facing the passage of restrictive regulations in multiple townships.
These ordinances would restrict your rights as vacation homeowners. One of the most restrictive regulations now under consideration is a 6-night minimum stay requirement. This is currently under consideration in Sevastopol township, but another ordinance is being drafted in Liberty Grove and talks are now taking place in Gibraltar, as well. It would very likely spread throughout the peninsula with each township using their predecessor’s ordinance as a template.
We have hired a top notch attorney, nationally recognized in her field, Deborah Tomczyk of Reinhart Law in Milwaukee, to represent the interests of all Door County vacation rental hosts. But this costs a lot to do and we need your support. We have been told to budget for $30,000 to work with her on the Sevastopol, Liberty Grove and Gibraltar ordinances. We will also be creating educational materials for all (present and future) hosts to encourage Good Neighbor practices.
We have now become incorporated as the Door County Vacation Rental Association, Inc. Our mission is to enhance members’ home-sharing experience through education, professional standards, marketing, political advocacy and industry networking. We strive to promote the Door County community, contribute to its economy and, above all, strive to always be good neighbors.
Please consider contributing $1,000 per property if you are an owner. This is small compared to having ALL of your future weekend bookings prohibited and will include a featured property spotlight on our Facebook page or future website, as well as a founding membership in our association. If you cannot afford that, please contribute what you can. Your contribution of at least $100 will entitle you to a founding membership in the DCVRA.
We encourage all who benefit from tourism in Door County to contribute to this campaign. If you are a visitor to Door County who wants to be able to rent a house for less than a week please consider donating $50.
WE ARE SUPPORTING YOU - PLEASE SUPPORT US WITH YOUR CONTRIBUTION!
