The Douglas P. Lathrop Scholarship for the Disabled

This is our first year for this scholarship fund so we would LOVE to raise as much money as possible. This is a yearly scholarship that will live on for decades to to leave a lasting legacy for Doug in the LGBT Disabled community. We have posted a large goal so that this page will remain active FOREVER!!!

The scholarship is to be awarded to individuals with a
Permanent Mobility Disability
Mobility impairment refers to the inability of a person to use one or more of his/her extremities, or a lack of strength to walk, grasp, or lift objects. The use of a wheelchair, crutches, or a walker may be utilized to aid in mobility. Mobility impairment may be caused by a number of factors, such as disease, an accident, or a congenital disorder and may be the result from neuro-muscular and orthopedic impairments.
The scholarship will be open to any student attending college/vocational school
We will follow a standard application process for student scholarships with a specific essay topic that will be a minimum of 3 pages and an integral part of the selection process.
“What does it mean to you to be part of both the LGBT and Disabled communities?”
This Scholarship will be under the non profit organization of The Imperial Court de San Diego. Since its inception in 1979, the scholarship program has given over $185,000. http://www.imperialcourtsandiego.com/About/Programs.aspx
If you would prefer to donate directly to the Imperial Court as a tax deductible donation checks can be made out to The Imperial Court of San Diego (note on check for Doug's scholarship)
