Support Doug and Bina's Kenya Project Fundraiser

Donation protected
In July 2019, members of the Maywood Rotary Club will travel to Kenya in partnership with the Maywood Rotary Club Foundation’s Kenya Project, a volunteer effort to expand and enhance the country’s Nkineji Primary School. We’re honored to join other Rotarians in making a meaningful difference for the school’s motivated, talented students.

But first, we need your support. Like other Rotarians on this trip, in addition to paying our personal expenses, Doug and I must raise $2,000 by April 15, 2019, toward improvements at the Nkineji Primary School.

The children of Nkineji deserve a quality education yet reside in one of Kenya’s most remote and environmentally vulnerable areas. They live in poor conditions without running water, electricity, or roads, and the region lacks the financial resources to adequately better local schools.

With your support, Maywood Rotary Club members and the Kenya Project will grow and improve the Nkineji Primary School. The school aims to acquire full accreditation as a day and boarding school for 1,000 students—and we are hopeful that goal will be realized in 2019!

Please help us raise $2,000 by April 15, 2019, by making a tax-deductible gift to the Maywood Rotary Club Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. If we surpass our $2,000 goal, all additional funds will be contributed to the school.

Your donation will support the Nkineji Primary School by:

·       Building a special purpose block with a science lab, computer lab, library, and a special needs classroom (the first in the area)

·       Extending the kitchen

·       Building the boys’ dorm

·       Buying and installing outdoor play equipment for the kindergarten

·       Buying desks and furnishings for classrooms, dorms, special purpose rooms, and the dining hall

·       Improving water and sanitation systems

·       Offering 3 more high school scholarships

As Kevin Williams, the original director of the Maywood Rotary Club’s Kenya Project, said, “It’s about the children.”

We thank you for making school a fun, safe, and quality experience for the children of Nkineji each day.
