Drunk Driving Survivor and Cancer Victim
Donation protected
In September 2021, Edith, 59 years old, was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. She has been a single parent almost all her life. she has always lived with her only son Hugo, 31 years old. Edith has undergone a series of treatments, including chemotherapy and radiation, leaving her too weak to work or care for herself.
Hugo was working full time as a case manager for underpriveleged children in order to support both of them up until April 2022 when he was tragically hit by a drunk driver, leaving him in a coma with an aortic tear, a broken jaw, broken legs and a shattered ankle. Hugo awoke from the coma five weeks later after multiple operations and skin grafts but is still undergoing a series of surgeries to try to salvage his ability to walk again in the future.
Hugo is now immobile and has lingering effects of brain damage from the accident, which has left him unable to work or assist with taking care of his mother. It has been months, and Hugo is still waiting to receive his first disability check. With medical bills, credit card bills, and rent payments starting to pile up, Edith and Hugo are running out of options to keep themselves from losing their apartment and ending up on the street. This is why they are asking for your help, and any donation is greatly appreciated.
