Duane Sims & Family

On 8-17-2016 Duane was admitted to the ICU at Bellevue Medical with a severe acute pancreatitis attack. Shortly after the same day Duanes Kidney's shut down and he went into renal failure. Duane lost his airway pretty quick thereafter and he had to be intubated and remains on the life saving ventilator. He is in acute respiratory distress and is awaiting a tracheostomy to get the tubes out of his throat. In the meantime Duane has undergone dialysis to do the job his kidneys were unable to do. We are going day by day and hour by hour. When Duane is able to leave the hospital he will go straight to rehab for physical therapy to relearn how to walk, talk, swallow and strengthen his muscles. Duane was medically paralyzed during a period of time so his body would quit fighting the machines and allow healing. We need the support all friends, family and co-workers to help the family through this time.
