El Monte Elementary is a small public school in Concord. Our student population has a 67% free and reduced lunch, and a high percentage to our students are classified in the low socio-economic level.
Every year our 5th grade students attend a five-day outdoor educational camp. This experience exposes students to science, geography, and social skills/team building experiences. Camp Loma Mar has become a tradition for our 5th graders, one which we'd like to be able to continue to offer.
In order to provide the opportunity to attend outdoor education to all our 5th grade students for the 2016-2017 we need your help.
Due to changes in state law, schools can no longer require students to contribute towords feild trips, nor can parents ask for scholarships, due to confidentiality. Because of this, all of our families and staff members have made a commitment to look for funding to reach our goal of every 5th grade students get to camp.
