East Race Mosaic

For the big SB150 birthday weekend in downtown South Bend we have Art Alley which is an area near Seitz Park that will include various community art projects that include an artistic, beautification project for an otherwise bleak area along the East Race.

Christopher Stackowicz will be designing and working with numerous organizations and individulas in South Bend to create a 2,400 square foot recycled glass mosaic. made from colored bottles and glass collected from businesses downtown.   The mosaic will beautify the wall area leading up to and away from the part of the East Race that goes beneath Colfax Ave with a mosaic of swirling water patterns.  The entire project will happen during the birthday weekend and community members can be involved in the installation during the SB150 Birthday Weekend.

We had two possible funding sources for this project, but unfortunately neither are going to follow-through with it.  We think this project is too good to drop so we're trying to raise $5,000 in a few days to make it a reality.  Please consider helping with this beautiful, community art project.    Every dollar will make a difference.
