EDGE Outdoors - A Snow Sports Initiative
Donation protected
The EDGE Outdoors fundraiser is a powerful initiative created to address the invisibility of women of color in snow sports by eliminating entry cost barriers. The lack of diversity in snow sports is directly related to past discriminatory law at the local, state, and federal levels that was purposely designed to exclude Black, Indigenous, and other people of color from mountain spaces.
This fundraiser is an attempt to bring diversity to the slopes, bestow equity to WOC, promote the normalization of black and brown bodies on the hill, and foster an inclusive environment. My vision is to attract and retain WOC in snow sports while building a supportive community where recipients can thrive and keep their edges engaged for a lifetime.
This is a dual-purpose initiative to provide 3 scholarships:
1) Provide 20/21 mountain access
2) Offer a intro ski or snowboard lesson or a clinic for women of color in the Seattle area.
3) Provide 21/22 mountain access
In order to launch this initiative, I am looking to raise $5,000 or more. Once the funds are raised, an application will open to identify women in need. Any additional funding will be used to obtain gently used gear.
Like my previous campaigns, Bike for Cuba and Boots for Kilimanjaro, there will be FULL financial transparency. Every penny is accounted for and goes towards the cause.
If you are interested in collaborating or donating gear please reach out.
Also, more details will be rolling out soon - stay tuned.
